Gareth Holmes joined the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) in April 2026 as Development and Income Director.
As a member of the Executive Team, Gareth plays a key role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction. He leads IWF’s income generation activity and works closely with its members to maximise the disruption of child sexual abuse material, support effective policy and best practice, and secure the income and critical infrastructure needed to sustain and grow the organisation’s impact.
Gareth leads a talented team across Membership and Fundraising, bringing together expertise and experience around a shared commitment to protecting children online and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the IWF.
He brings more than 20 years’ experience in the charity sector, primarily in senior fundraising and communications roles, alongside experience as a trustee and consultant. Prior to his charity career, Gareth held positions in the corporate sector and continues to contribute his experience through non-executive director roles.
Throughout his career, Gareth has led significant initiatives across the human rights sector and has a strong understanding of the challenges facing children and vulnerable people in an increasingly digital world. He believes the internet has become a new frontline for human rights, where abuse, exploitation and other forms of harm can have a profound impact on children and young people.
At the IWF, Gareth is focused on bringing people, partnerships and resources together to strengthen the organisation’s ability to protect children online and create lasting change.
