Today (October 5), The NSPCC announced Ms Hargreaves has been made an Honorary Member of the NSPCC Council.
This prestigious award has been granted in recognition of Ms Hargreaves’ “contribution to child protection over the years”.
NSPCC Chief Executive, Sir Peter Wanless, said: “Susie has made a consistent and exceptional contribution to the safety of children online. The NSPCC is delighted to recognise this by appointing her as an honorary member of the NSPCC council.
“The Charity is particularly proud of the vital work the IWF and NSPCC has done in partnership to develop Report Remove which helps children remove abusive images from the internet.
“We look forward to continuing to work with Susie and the IWF until every child is safe online.”
Ms Hargreaves said: “Doing this work is a privilege, and I am so proud of what everyone at the IWF does to protect children all around the world.
“It’s an honour to be recognised by the NSPCC like this, and shows how important it is for us all to keep working together to make sure children are safe.
“As more and more of us, including very young children, begin to spend more time online, it is more critical than ever that we do everything we can to make sure the internet is a safe place where children can be children and learn, play, and have fun, free from harm, harassment, and abuse.”
The ‘world first’ standards will help to ‘set and raise’ standards to prevent the upload and distribution of online child sexual abuse imagery.
