Brands protected as Com Laude enters Internet Watch Foundation membership

Published:  Wed 9 Oct 2013

Com Laude has joined forces with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to protect brands from infringements by criminals seeking to disseminate child sexual abuse images.

Com Laude Opens in New Window, a specialist domain name management provider with offices in London and the south of England, helps many of the world’s leading companies to secure their brands in the internet’s addressing system.

Nick Wood, Com Laude, said: “Our clients strive to ensure that their customers enjoy a safe experience on the internet. With the advent of over 1,000 new domain registries in the next 12 months, there will be many more opportunities for criminals. We value the work of the IWF and are looking forward to working with other members.”

Susie Hargreaves, IWF Chief Executive, said: “It is a sad truth that legitimate organisations see their services and branding exploited by criminals seeking to share child sexual abuse images. It is therefore essential that the IWF works with registrars like Com Laude to ensure brands are protected and warned when these infringements take place. I look forward to working with their team and their clients to create a safer online experience for all users.”
