At Facebook nothing is more important to us than maintaining a safe and secure environment for the people who use the site. The Internet Watch Foundation’s support and expertise has been invaluable to our efforts to keep Facebook free of illegal content. We are proud to work alongside the Internet Watch Foundation and their partners from across the internet industry.
At Facebook, we take the issue of child sexual abuse imagery very seriously. This year we’ve worked closely with the IWF and others from the internet industry to develop hash technology which we believe is going to be crucial in the fight against these images. Our partnership with IWF helps us protect the people who use Facebook and prevent the re-victimisation of child victims worldwide.
Partnerships are vital to protect children from abuse and to keep the internet free of illegal content. The UK is fortunate to have the IWF at the heart of our efforts, given its track record and new, proactive focus. Facebook works closely with the IWF team and we have important work ahead to improve our impact still further.
Keeping children safe on Facebook is vitally important and we have a zero-tolerance approach to content or behaviour that exploits children. Working in collaboration with expert organisations like the Internet Watch Foundation is vital in helping us tackle this crime. We have a long-standing and valued partnership with the IWF, both in the UK and internationally and earlier this year, together with the NSPCC, we launched Report Remove - the first truly proactive, victim sourced child exploitation imagery, project of its kind. We are proud of the partnership we have with IWF and the ground-breaking work we have achieved together to keep exploitative content off our platforms.
