In its business operations, it understands that exposure to the digital world also comes with vulnerabilities and challenges. Under its #MakeITSafe program, Globe partnered with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to bolster its fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC) by blocking, reporting, and removing sensitive content within its online network to promote online child safety. In 2022, Globe and IWF celebrated World Safer Internet Day alongside partners from UNICEF Philippines and the SaferKidsPH Consortium, CitizenWatch, and Bantay Konsyumer, Kalsada, Kuryente (BK3) through a virtual public webinar that highlighted the importance of holistic cooperation among the public and private sectors, international and civil society organizations, and digital citizens in fighting online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. Globe has invested over $2.7 million for content filtering systems to block websites and online imagery that promote child pornography and piracy. To date, it has blocked a total of 360,106 URLs and 1,614 domains linked to child pornography, and 1,646 more domains linked to online gambling and phishing scams with IWF.
