Interim CEO

Derek Ray-Hill joined the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) as interim CEO in September 2024, bringing over 25 year’s experience in the not-for-profit and membership sectors. His expertise covers organisational strategy, international public affairs, private/public partnerships and transformation. Most recently he has led the organisational re-design and future strategy of Transnational Giving Europe, a European partnership covering 19 countries that facilitates cross-border charitable donations. This follows three years transforming the international work of the Charities Aid Foundation that delivers over £1B in grants to nonprofit organisations in over 100 countries. Derek has worked and advised on a number of international programmes with bodies such as the OECD’s Global Partnership for Economic Development and Cooperation and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association.

Derek’s previous work includes launching a new international TV channel at BBC Worldwide, setting up one of the first international award schemes for corporate responsibility (The Clarions) at the International Visual Communications Association and expanding the world’s largest festival for cinema and young people (National Schools Film Week) at Film Education. He has also worked on a range of campaigns and initiatives with the UK’s largest corporations, universities and housing associations over 7 years at Business LDN (previous London First). His career journey began in the White House Internship programme during his university studies and he maintains an avid interest in politics and public policy. 

Derek is originally from Montreal, Canada and now lives in Surrey with his family of four children. He is also Chair of Trustees for Police Care UK, the national charity that supports those injured in the service of policing and their families. Outside of work he has played rugby union and now referees. He also plays golf.
