Question: I have a complaint regarding a premium rate telephone line?

Answer: You should contact ICSTIS (if calls terminate in UK). ICSTIS stands for the Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services. It is the industry-funded regulatory body for services accessed via premium rate charged telecommunications calls. ICSTIS regulates the content and promotion of services, such as adult content, through its Code of Practice. It investigates complaints and has the power to fine companies and bar access to services.

Question: Who should I contact for complaints regarding general UK telephone services?

Answer: In first instance, try to resolve the problem with your telephone company.  If the dispute remains unresolved, contact OFCOM.  The OFCOM website contains useful FAQ’s and contact details.

Question: Who should I contact for complaints/concern regarding standards and fairness in broadcasting?

Answer: OFCOM is the regulator for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services. OFCOM exists to further the interests of citizen-consumers as the communications industries enter the digital age.
