Funding model

IWF is largely funded by voluntary contributions from UK communications service providers, including Internet service providers, mobile phone operators, internet trade associations, search engines, hardware manufacturers and software providers.  The level of funding depends on the size of the company and a full list of funding members can be found in this section of the website.

The EU contribute towards the costs of running the Hotline through a contract under the Safer Internet Action Plan.

The Association of Payment Clearing Services (APACS) also fund us.

Special projects are also funded by government departments and by organisations who share our aim of minimising the availability of potentially illegal content on the Internet.

Member organisations and other companies also sponsor particular events and projects such as the publication of our annual report.

A list of our sponsors is shown in this section of the website.

IWF has recently become an incorporated charity, limited by guarantee.
